Police chase ends with crash in Elizabeth City; driver arrested

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WAVY) – A Camden County man is facing a long list of charges, including DWI, following a police chase that ended in a three-vehicle crash.

The night of Oct. 4, Camden County Sheriff’s Office attempted to pull over a Buick but the driver refused to stop.

As the Buick entered the intersection of Hughes Boulevard and Halstead Boulevard, it hit two other vehicles.

Elizabeth City Police responded to the scene and arrested the driver of the Buick, Jose Vazquez. He has been charged with driving while impaired, resist, delay, obstruct, felony flee/elude, reckless driving to endanger, no operator license, failure to stop at a steady red light and reckless driving.

The Pasquotank County EMS and Elizabeth City Fire Department also responded to the crash scene to provide medical treatment. Police have not said how seriously the people involved in the crash were injured.
