Police arrest driver suspected of hitting elderly man in Poquoson


POQUOSON, Va. (WAVY) — Police in Poquoson say they have arrested the man suspected of hitting an elderly man on Sunday and then fleeing the scene.

On Tuesday, Poquoson detectives said they had taken out warrants for Adonte Devon Patterson, 33, in connection to the hit-and-run. He’s been charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving injury and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended or revoked license.

According to the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office and the Poquoson Police Department, the elderly man was in the 200 block of Wythe Creek Road around 9:28 a.m. when he was struck by Patterson’s silver Chevrolet SUV, which was missing its passenger side mirror.

Poquoson police said in an update Wednesday that Patterson had been  taken into custody.
