Person stabbed at bus stop near Virginia Beach Oceanfront

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Virginia Beach Police are investigating a stabbing that happened near the Oceanfront Monday morning. 

Police say officers from the second precinct were flagged down around 2:19 a.m. for a report of two people fighting at a bus stop located at Arctic Avenue and 19th Street. The witness told officers that one of the people may be armed with a knife.

When officers arrived on scene, they found an adult male suffering from what appeared to be stab wounds.

First aid was rendered until EMS arrived and transported the man to the hospital with life threatening injuries. 

The suspect, 57-year-old  Alvin Theothius Smith, remained on scene and was taken into custody. He is charged with one count of aggravated malicious wounding
