NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A passenger was caught with a loaded handgun Friday at Norfolk International Airport.
In a tweet, TSA spokesperson Lisa Farbstein said the handgun — which had an engraving of the State of Liberty — was loaded with six bullets. Police confiscated the gun.
Farbstein said in the tweet, “Just because you’ve got the Statue of Liberty engraved onto the handle of your handgun, still doesn’t allow you to bring it past a TSA checkpoint.”
This is the 18th time a passenger has been caught with a handgun at a TSA checkpoint at Norfolk’s airport this year. There 10 such incidents in all of 2017.
