NORFOLK (WAVY) – Oshane Ximines admits, he can’t stop thinking about next week’s NFL Draft, and says he even has to calm himself down sometimes. “Half the time, I got to be like, ‘Shane, just relax, man.’
“Whatever happens, I’m going to be on a football team, come august,” said Ximines.
More than likely, Ximines, a four-year terror of a defensive end at Old Dominion University, will hear his name called during the draft. Should that happen, he’ll be the first Monarch ever selected in the draft.
“I’m just going to let everything happen, and when I step on that field for whichever team, I’m going to give it my all. That’s the most important thing,” he said.
Saturday night, Ximines decided to turn in the helmet for the baseball cap, and threw out the first pitch before the Norfolk Tides’ game against the Charlotte Knights.
“When I got on the mound, it was like I forgot how to throw a ball,” said Ximines.
“I collected myself, got it together, just tried to play it safe, tried to get it over the plate so I didn’t embarras myself. So, that was the plan going in, and I feel like I did pretty good. Executed well, and I’d love to do it again next year.”
