NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Newport News Police spokeswoman Kelly King says an arrest has been made in connection to a shooting that killed a man on Friday.
Police charged 42-year-old Alfred Raymond Lattanzio, of Hampton, with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Shots rang out at the Motel 6 on J Clyde Morris just before 5:30 Friday afternoon.
Police said they found a man dead outside a room. The man was later identified as 61-year-old Randall Edward Dotson, of Newport News.
10 On Your Side learned Dotson knew Lattanzio, but it’s not clear what led up to the shooting.
Police say Latanzzio ran off, but was located hiding in the woods just across the street from the motel.
A spokesperson for the Newport News Police Department says the quick arrest was due to the help of witnesses and the fast work of officers.
