One dead, one recovering after Chesapeake shooting


CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Chesapeake police are investigating an overnight shooting that left one person dead and another in the hospital.

Police were called to Linster Street just before 1:20 a.m. on Saturday for a report for two people with gunshot wounds.

When police arrived at the scene, they found two people with gunshot wounds. Paramedics took a man to Norfolk General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. 

Police later identified him as 22-year-old Mikal Nichols, of Portsmouth.

The second person was taken to Chesapeake Regional Center with non-life threatening injuries. 

Police say they are still investigating and anyone with information is asked to call the CrimeLine at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
