One dead after crash on General Booth Blvd. in Va. Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — One person is dead following a crash Friday evening on General Booth Boulevard.

Police and Fire-Rescue crews responded to the 2100 block of General Booth Blvd for a single vehicle accident. After arriving on scene, police located a 2005 Dodge Dakota with a deceased individual still inside.

They closed down General Booth Boulevard near Nimmo Parkway to further investigate the incidents leading up to the crash. 

Investigators determined that the truck driver was attempting to turn from Nimmo Parkway onto General Booth when they hit a median, overcorrected and struck a tree. 

Police have identified the driver as 70-year-old George Edmand Smith.
