One dead after crash involving two motorcycles and minivan on I-264

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A crash involving two motorcycles and a minivan left one person dead and another fighting for their life at a local hospital.

The crash happened around 7:15 p.m. on I-264 just east of Laskin Road in Virginia Beach.

According to a spokeswoman for Virginia State Police, two Suzuki motorcycles were traveling at a high rate of speed when one of the bikes ran in to the back of a Honda Odyssey minivan.

The operator of the motorcycle lost control and struck a Jersey wall. The van then struck the second motorcycle, whose operator was ejected from the bike.

Both operators of the motorcycles were taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. One of them succumbed to their injuries.

The people in the minivan were transported to the hospital with injuries considered not life-threatening.

All westbound lanes of I-264 just past First Colonial Road, extending to Laskin Road were shut down as police investigated the crash.
