PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Some areas have seen rain, while others experienced a slight mix and some snow during Wednesday morning’s commute.
Crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation pretreated roads ahead of a wintry mix that was expected to impact much of the region.
VDOT said in a news release crews spread brine along all bridges and ramps in Hampton Roads — as well as VDOT-maintained roads in in James City County and Emporia.
In his Tuesday weather blog, Meteorologist Jeremy Wheeler said there could be a few sprinkles or flurries before midnight — but a bulk of the precipitation will start up after midnight.
WAVY’s Kiahnna Patterson reports areas in the Peninsula, like Williamsburg, saw on-and-off rain during the morning commute.
There were reports of snow in Mathews County as a mix moved across areas that included James City and Gloucester counties. The Eastern Shore saw some snow and a wintry mix.
