Old Dominion UTSA

SAN ANTONIO, TX (WAVY) – Old Dominion experienced its share of comebacks this year, rallying from 17, 13, 21 and 13 to beat VCU, Syracuse, Western Kentucky, and Charlottes, respectively.

On Saturday, the Monarchs (16-6, 6-3 in Conference USA) suffered a gut-punch of a loss. Texas- San Antonio erased what looked like an insurmountable lead, and rallied from 19 down to top Jeff Jones’ team 74-73.

Keaten Wallace scored 29, including the go-ahead three-point basket with :15 seconds left that gave the Road Runners (12-9, 6-2 in CUSA) the final lead of the ball game.

A frantic finish ensued, as B.J. Stith and Justice Kithcart both had a look at the game-winning bucket in the final seconds. Stith led the Monarchs with 23 points, while Ahmad Caver scored 20.

ODU now looks ahead to second-place North Texas at the Ted Constant Center on Thursday night.
