NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The post office on Church Street in Norfolk was briefly closed after a substance was found inside the building on Sunday.

Emergency dispatchers say they received the call at 9 a.m. for a substance described as white and powdery.

The post office was evacuated while crews investigated. Fire officials say the substance was later identified as non hazard material.

This is the same area where mercury was spilled at the U.S Postal Service building on August 25.
