Officials christen first 3D metal printer at Newport News Shipbuilding


NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Officials on Thursday christened the first 3D metal printer at Newport News Shipbuilding.

The printer will allow employees to make solid objects of virtually any shape using digital data. This includes valves, housings and brackets.

Officials are calling the printer a game-changer for the shipyard.
