NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Police at Old Dominion University are investigating after officials say armed suspects forced their way into a room at a residence hall on campus.

The university sent a safety message about the incident Wednesday morning.

Officials said in the message the incident happened around 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Dominion House, which is a building that offers housing for upperclassman.

University officials said the suspects, who know the residents, forced their way into the room and pulled out guns. The suspects, who were described as being college-aged, fled the building with no property reported stolen.

Officials said no injuries were reported.

Police patrols have been increased in the area as officers continue to investigate, officials said.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call ODU police at 757-683-4000 or send them a text via the LiveSafe App.

Police are asking the community to avoid allowing people to “tailgate” into the residence halls — and to notify staff and police when it happens.
