JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — A man is dead and another is seriously injured after officials say an oak tree fell on a truck in James City County.

Officials tell WAVY.com the incident happened on Newman Road around 12:50 p.m., when high winds blew the tree over. The tree fell on a construction truck that was hauling a trailer.

Crews were able to pull the driver out after he was pinned in the truck for more than two hours. The driver reportedly has serious injuries, but was alert and talking when pulled from the truck, according to police. Crews freed Walker’s body from the truck just after 4 p.m.

Dominion Energy Virginia crews also responded to the scene because the tree took out a power line.
