Officer treated for minor injuries following crash in Va. Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A police officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries following a two-vehicle crash in Virginia Beach on Monday, police say.

Dispatchers tell WAVY.com the crash involved a police car and another vehicle at the intersection of Lynnhaven Parkway and Princess Anne Road. The crash was reported just before 12:30 p.m.

Virginia Beach police said the second driver involved in the crash was not injured.

Police said the officer was responding to a call for service when the crash happened.

The officer was going eaast on Lynnhaven with its emergency equipment activated, slowed to stop and red light at Princess Anne and then was hit by a vehicle going east on Princess Anne after continuing through the intersection..

Police were called to this crash more than an hour after a serious crash on Birdneck Road left two people injured and closed a portion of the roadway.
