ODU gets ready for bonus play game against Western Kentucky

NORFOLK (WAVY) — First place Old Dominion hosts second place Western Kentucky Saturday at the Ted Constant Center in the first of four bonus play games.

Conference USA is experimenting with this new system. ODU is in a pod with the top five teams in the conference, and those teams will play each other in a round-robin format.

Earlier in the season, ODU had to rally from a 21 point deficit to defeat Western Kentucky.

The Monarchs are not looking to fall down by 21 again.

“We know the chances of that happening again are slim to none,” B.J. Stith said. “We just have to be ready for them.”

WKU coach Rick Stansbury will be back on the sidelines after he missed a few games following back surgery.

He knows the importance of tomorrow’s game and how tough it is to play at the Ted.

“We are not going to get out to a 21-0 run this time, that’s not happening,” Stansbury said. “We have to keep this game close to have chances down the stretch to figure out what to do.”

ODU has won five straight games. Tip off is 1:00 at the Ted.
