Ocean Lakes and Western Branch punch their tickets to 6A Girls Regional Championship

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The 6A Region girls semifinals kicked off Friday with a Beach District showdown as Ocean Lakes took on the Lady Knights of Kellam.

The Lady Knights would dish out everything against the Lady Dolphins, but in the end it wasn’t enough.

Kayla McMakin had a game-high 36 points to lead Ocean Lakes to a 61-58 victory and a trip to the 6A Regional Championship

In the second semifinal, Western Branch took on the Lady Eagles from Landstown High School.

The whole first half of this game was close, but that wasn’t the case in the second.

Cayla Copeland had a huge game with 17 points, helping the Lady Bruins to pull away for the 61-43 win.

The Lady Bruins will now take on Ocean Lakes on Monday at 6 pm at The Scope to figure out who will go on to the state playoffs
