Northeastern loses on late field goal in NC state title game

News

RALEIGH (WAVY) — Northeastern’s (Elizabeth City) perfect season has come to an end, and not the end the Eagles had hoped for.

Playing in the North Carolina Class 2 state championship game, Northeastern took a 21-7 lead over Reidsville, but the Rams stormed back to tie the game.

Northeastern reclaimed the lead in the fourth quarter but Reidsville kicked a game-winning field goal late in the game to give Reidsville a 31-28 win and the North Carolina Class 2A state championship.
