Police seek charges against 15-year-old following stabbing in KDH

KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. (WAVY) -- Charges are being sought against a 15-year-old boy after police say another teen was seriously injured in stabbing Friday night in Kill Devil Hills.

According to police, the 15-year-old and a 19-year-old young man got into a fight Friday night at a small party on Burns Drive, which is not far from Croatan Highway.

Police say the 19-year-old was stabbed several times. Paramedics rushed him to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with life-threatening abdominal injuries.

Police say there was alcohol at the party. A preliminary investigation found the fight between the two teens started over a vaping device.

The 15-year-old was taken to Pitt Regional Juvenile Center in Greenville after detectives obtained a secured custody order, police say.

People under the age of 16 cannot be placed in custody without an order from a judge or magistrate, according to police. It's unclear what charges are being sought in this case.
