NC COVID-19 Sept. 28 Update: Nearly 3,500 new cases, more than 3K currently hospitalized

RALEIGH, N.C. (WAVY) — The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services released its latest coronavirus statistics on Tuesday.

Daily COVID-19 cases in the state are slightly down with 3,469 new cases being reported in the last 24 hours.

Current hospitalizations are also slightly compared to the previous week with 3,073 patients hospitalized in North Carolina due to the virus. So far, COVID-19 has taken 16,285 lives in North Carolina.

Overall, the state has reported 1,385,700 cases since the beginning of the pandemic. The state’s daily positivity rate is at 10.6%.
