NORFOLK, Va (WAVY) — Dozens of people started off their Thanksgiving day by serving others their own feast.
What started six years ago as a group giving out goody bags on Thanksgiving day in Norfolk has transformed into a full thanksgiving meal at a popular local brewery.
Help NKF Homeless 2018 at O’Connor Brewing Company, prepared and assembled more than 200 meals and goodie bags Thursday. Organizers say they were blown away by the turnout of volunteers.
“Knew we’d have a lot, did not know we would have so many,” said Sondra Donaldson, who helped coordinate volunteers. “We just said we want to do this and everyone just said, ‘How can we help?'”
Many brought their families to help fill containers with all the fixings.
