The Norfolk City Treasurer’s Office is reminding people that it will never attempt to collect payments over the phone.

The office has recently been notified of people receiving unsolicited calls, which attempt to get them to pay taxes over the phone.

If a Norfolk taxpayer receives an unsolicited call, hang up and call the Treasurer’s Office at 757-664-7800.  City officials say staff members will let the taxpayer know if money is due and the proper method for payment.
