Norfolk bomb squad gives all clear to object found at home near ODU

UPDATE: The bomb squad has cleared the object. Police say it appeared to be a solid metal device and was chemically inactive. 


NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The bomb squad has been called in after an “old military device” was found Friday afternoon by homeowners doing yard work. 

The home is in the 1600 block of 49th Street, near Old Dominion University. 

Police have closed portions of 49th Street and Kenova St. in the meantime. It’s unclear what the device is at this time.
