Newport News police seek suspect who shot 56-year-old man

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Police are seeking the public’s assistance after a 56-year-old man was shot on Monday.

According to police, the victim was driving near 14th Street and Wickham Avenue when he saw two unknown males approaching him. He quickly sped off and heard a single gunshot. A bullet had entered his back window, gone through his headrest and struck him.

His injuries are considered non life-threatening. 

The first suspect was a male, 18-19 years of age, with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a rolled up black skull cap. The second suspect was also male, police say.
