Newport News man pleads guilty to possession of firearm

NEWPORT NEWS, Va (WAVY) – Kenneth Pressley, 44, pleaded guilty to a felony charge for possession of a firearm.

In May of 2018, he was a passenger in a traffic stop that led to a pursuit on foot. Pressley ran into the backyard of a nearby residence and that’s when he fired his weapon. After Pressley was taken into custody, officers recovered the loaded gun.

Pressley was previously convicted of two counts of attempted malicious wounding, malicious discharge of a firearm into an occupied building, and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

In February of 2019, he could be sentenced to a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
