Newport News man arrested for indecent exposure and burglary

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A 60-year-old Newport News man was arrested on Wednesday for burglary and indecent exposure charges. 

Newport News police say they were dispatched to the 800 block of Daphia Circle on Tuesday around 8 p.m. for a report of a sexual offense that had allegedly occurred the day before. 

An 18-year-old Newport News woman told police that Faryl Arthur Kinney exposed himself to her before urinating in the parking lot of the apartment complex on Aug. 6. She says when she yelled at Kinney, he started to approach her and she ran away. 

On Wednesday, police were called to the same area for a report of a burglary around 3 p.m.. A 77-year-old Newport News man told police Kinney had entered his home without his permission.  

The victim stated he was inside he home when he heard someone walking up the stairs towards his living room. When he started to walk out of his bedroom, he heard the individual run out of his home.

The victim’s neighbor stated he saw Kinney go inside of the home. Police say there was not any property taken from the victim’s residence.

Police arrested Kinney and charged him with burglary. They also served him with an arrest warrant for indecent exposure from the incident on Aug. 6.
