NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A  24-year-old man pulled a gun on a man and a woman during a dispute over a parking space on Tuesday, according to police.

Newport News Police were dispatched shortly before 7 a.m. for a report of a man with a gun in a parking lot in the 300 block of 38th Street.

The victims told police they were attempting to park in a space in the lot and asked the driver of a pick-up truck to move over a little.

Police say the pick-up truck driver pulled out a handgun, racked the slide and pointed it at the victims during the exchange.

The victims ran to the parking lot security who then notified police.

When officers arrived, they located the pick-up truck and determined it was registered to Julio Luis Anes Perez of Newport News. He was identified as the driver.

Police located Perez shortly after 12 p.m. and  took him into custody.  He was charged with two counts of pointing/brandishing a firearm and aggravated assault.
