NEWPORT NEWS, Va., (WAVY) — A 27-year-old Newport News man is accused of assaulting a police officer, indecent exposure and possession of marijuana.

On Nov. 8, Newport News Police say they were dispatched to the 300 block of Diplomat Court around 7:35 p.m. for a report of a man jumping on vehicles and screaming.

Officers approached the subject, later identified as Felipe Baptistella, and say he was pacing back and forth while they engaged with him.

Baptistella ran towards an apartment at some point, without any clothes on, police say. There was a woman in that apartment and Baptistella reportedly yelled that he was going to get the female.

According to police, an officer grabbed Baptistella, who then turned around and grabbed the officer’s neck.

Police took Baptistella into custody and transported him to a local hospital for an evaluation.

Baptistella was charged with assault on law enforcement, possession of marijuana and indecent exposure. He was served on Dec. 11.
