Newport News firefighters respond to vacant apartment fire

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – Firefighters responded an apartment fire early Sunday morning. 

Officials were dispatched at 4:45 a.m. for the fire in the 700 block of 36th Street. The fire was quickly extinguished and confined to the first floor.

The apartment was vacant, according to officials. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
