Newport News bookkeeper uses her father’s identity to steal $148,000

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A former bookkeeper for a Newport News medical practice was convicted of embezzling funds and fraud today. 

32-year-old Amanda Viglietta, of Newport News, collected approximately $148,400 in loan funds from April through December 2016. Viglietta then proceeded to use the money on personal purchases using a small business loan made out in her father’s name, without his knowledge or authorization.

She was sentenced to over five years in prison for the criminal acts.
