NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The New Kent County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after two vehicles were stolen and several other vehicles had items stolen from them overnight.

The crimes occurred sometime late Sunday night or early Monday morning in the Quinton Road area of the county, according to the New Kent County Sheriff’s Office. The news caught many neighbors off guard.

“I was kind of shocked. This is a very quiet neighborhood. Since I’ve been here for those many years, I’ve only had problems one time with someone breaking into my garage and stealing some stuff,” neighbor Tony Lewis said.

Police say several items were taken from unlocked vehicles and two vehicles — a black 2004 Infinity QX6 SUV (pictured below) and white 2010 Chevrolet Express van) — were both stolen.

“I think they’ll probably hit the spot one time and probably be done with it, hopefully. But you never know, if they think it’s an easy hit, they may come back again,” Lewis said.

The sheriff’s office said it has seen an increase in theft from vehicle cases during the past two weeks in the Five Lakes and Providence Forge areas and is urging the community to lock their vehicles.

“This is the time of year where thieves are looking to take advantage of our community. Please be vigilant and be proactive with securing your belongings.”  — New Kent County Sheriff’s Office

  • 2010 Chevrolet Express van, white in color with green letters of Chewning & Wilmer, Inc

Anyone with information regarding the thefts of these vehicles or see these vehicles should call New Kent Sheriff’s Office (804) 966-9500 or Crime Stoppers (804) 780-1000.
