Nearly 8,000 participate in 2018 Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Nearly 8,000 registered runners participated in this year’s Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon event in Virginia Beach, according to a press release from event officials. 

The running event began with a 5K and Mile on the Sand Saturday morning, while the half marathon took place on Sunday. Runners from 46 states and 17 countries participated.

The race started on 14th Street and Pacific Avenue. The route headed north toward 31st Street, turned on Croatan Bridge and General Booth Boulevard and ended on the boardwalk. 

The winners of the half marathon are as follows: 

  • First Place: Mike Morgan from Rochester Hills, Mich. Time: 1:08:47
  • Second Place: Will Christian from Chesapeake. Time: 1:09:28
  • Third Place: Michael Bailey from Chesapeake. Time: 1:11:19 
  • First Place (Women’s): Mary Schneider from Monkton, Md. Time: 1:24:19
  • Second Place (Women’s): Fabiana Perlingeiro from Virginia Beach. Time: 1:28:05
  • Third Place (Women’s): Becky Younger from Toms River, N.J. Time: 1:29:34
