NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A woman wanted for the murder of her cousin in Iowa back in May was arrested Tuesday afternoon by U.S. Marshals and Norfolk police.

Danaesha L. Martin, 22, was taken into custody without incident around 12:50 p.m. in the 700 block of A Avenue in Norfolk.

The arrest comes months after Martin’s first cousin, Shavondes S. Martin, was found dead in an alley near South Street in the Iowa city of Waterloo on May 31.

After an autopsy determined his death was due to gunshot wounds, Waterloo authorities took out an arrest warrant on Danaesha Martin on Nov. 8 and learned her last known location was in Norfolk.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Waterloo Police Department at 319-291-2515.
