(WESH) A Sandhill Crane chick has been reunited with its family after getting lost in a hail storm in Melbourne, Florida.
The lost chick was found last week, and taken to the Florida Wildlife Hospital. Hospital director Tracy Frampton put the chick in a covered cage, and went looking for the parents.
She quickly found two adult cranes already with a chick, but it was much older, larger and could not have hatched at the same time as the missing one.
Frampton tried again, and eventually found two other parents with a right-sized baby.
A camera captured the remarkable moment when the mama bird recognized her lost baby, who was calling to her from its cage.
