Walmart is facing backlash and threats of a boycott over anti-Trump merchandise that was being sold on its website.
The merchandise included shirts, hats and stickers with the messages “Impeach 45” and “Impeach Trump.” They were produced by third-party companies.
All of the items appear to have been removed from Walmart’s website as of Tuesday afternoon.
President Donald Trump’s supporters noticed the merchandise Monday night and started to voice their frustration over it on social media.
Ryan Fournier, the chairman of the Students for Trump coalition, tweeted a link to an “Impeach 45” baby onesie and asked, “What kind of message are you trying to send?” The tweet has been retweeted and liked thousands of times.
The company responded to the tweet Tuesday afternoon and said, “These items were sold by third-party sellers on our open marketplace and were not offered directly by Walmart. We’re removing these types of items pending review of our marketplace policies.”
But several supporters are still calling for a boycott of the retail giant online, voicing their opinions on Twitter with the “Boycott Walmart” hashtag.
