VIDEO: Vandals ring doorbell, set off fireworks on porch

BERNARDS TOWNSHIP, N.J. (NBC) — Two vandals set off fireworks on the porch of a stranger’s home — and it was all caught on camera.

New Jersey police are searching for the two suspects, who walked up to a stranger’s home and rang the doorbell before setting off the fireworks.

It happened early Friday morning in Bernards Township.

Police say you can hear the vandals planning their attack before one says, “Ready? Go!”

Security cameras captured the two dropping the fireworks and then taking off running.

Nobody was injured, but the homeowner and neighbors say they’re startled by the incident.

“You can just set a fire, you could pop an eye. It’s scary,” said homeowner Lucila Vollbrechthausen.

Neighbor Tatiana Rodriguez said, “Whoever is doing this maybe they think it’s funny or they get a rise out of it or maybe they’re bored but that have to consider how this could impact someone’s health and how they could cause some serious damage.”

Police haven’t caught the vandals, but say “similar” incidents have happened nearby.
