PHOENIX, Ariz. (NBC) — Traffic cameras captured an unusual sight early Wednesday morning: a golf cart being driven down an Arizona interstate.
Roadside cameras from the Arizona Department of Transportation captured the golf cart puttering down the highway just before 4 a.m. Wednesday, surrounded by other cars and semi-trucks.
The driver was in the middle lane of Interstate 10. Several calls came in to 911 that an elderly man was behind the wheel of the cart. Passing motorists helped stop the golf cart safely on the side of the freeway.
The Department of Public Safety said the 83-year-old man did not show any signs of impairment, but did not say why he was driving the golf cart on the interstate.
DPS said the man, his wife and the golf cart have all been reunited.
