Subtropical Storm Debby forms over North Atlantic


(WAVY) — A new tropical system has formed in the Atlantic Ocean.

The National Hurricane Center said Tuesday Subtropical Storm Debby formed 1,160 miles west of the Azores, with maximum winds of 40 mph. Hurricane Guide

The storm was moving north at 16 mph. It was expected to continue this northerly motion over the next 24 hours before making a northeast shift.

No watches or warnings were in effect Tuesday after Debby’s formation.

Debby is the fourth named storm of 2018.
