PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — People from the across the U.S. are coming to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences for a life-saving treatment.

Doctors are working on a breakthrough treatment involving spinal cord stimulation for people suffering with diabetic neuropathy, a condition that affects the nerves.

78-year-old Herb Lair says he’s feeling better than ever before thanks to the treatment.
