PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — There’s a last-second push for presents today.

Many people went out shopping on Monday for those final gifts ahead of the Christmas holiday.

Stores were busy with shoppers taking advantage of sales. Some shoppers say the hustle and bustle adds to the holiday excitement.

Many of the area shopping malls close at 6 p.m., and will will remain closed Christmas Day.

Shoppers at MacArthur mall in Norfolk not only got in their last minute shopping,

“I got most of the stuff already I’m just getting little stuff I haven’t gotten my mom anything or my little brother and my niece,” said Rochael Adolph.

But also got the last chance to give their list to Santa Claus.

“It’s a lot busier than I thought it would be. It was hectic trying to find a parking spot but you know it’s what you’d expect on Christmas Eve,” said Jonathan Neely.

This includes Greenbrier Mall in Chesapeake, Norfolk Premium Outlets, MacArthur Center, Lynnhaven Mall and Williamsburg Premium Outlets.

The malls are scheduled to reopen Wednesday morning.
