AUSTIN (KXAN) — If you’ve eaten at Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen in the past year, the restaurant chain is offering free identity protection services after a security breach was recently identified.

The restaurant says it learned on Aug. 16 that between Nov. 3, 2017, and Jan. 2, 2018 someone was able to gain access to the company’s network and potentially obtain customer credit card information.

The breach affects restaurants located in the following states:  Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Cheddar’s has location in Newport News, at 12280 Jefferson Avenue.

According to a message on its website, Cheddar’s says the breach occurred on a network that was permanently disabled and replaced by April 10, 2018.

If you used your credit card during the winter, you can enroll in free identity protection services with ID Experts. To enroll for the services, call (888) 258-7280 by Nov. 22, 2018.
