MOSCOW, Russia (NBC) — What do you do if you grow a 1,400 pound pumpkin? Take a lot of pictures… Then carve it.
The largest pumpkin ever grown in Russia was on display Saturday at a fall festival in Moscow.
This whopper pumpkin is 440 pounds heavier than the previous record-holder.
The carving ceremony attracted crowds of the curious to a greenhouse at a Moscow university.
Everyone who wanted a piece of the giant pumpkin got one to take home with them.
The farmer who grew the impressive pumpkin said he didn’t set out to break any records. He said he “just wanted to grow a big vegetable.”
The Atlantic Giant variety of pumpkin is a newcomer in Russia’s gardening community and is winning over fans.
