RICHMOND, Va. (WFXR/AP) — A fugitive wanted for shooting a Virginia police officer was shot and killed by U.S. Marshals in Morgantown, West Virginia on Wednesday, media outlets report.

WAVY sister station WXFR reports Donquale Gray was shot around 12:15 p.m. in the area of College Avenue and Falling Run Road — near the West Virginia University campus — when he tried to run from Marshals. Gray was reportedly armed with a handgun at the time.

No law enforcement officers were injured in the incident, WBOY reports citing marshals.

Gray was wanted for attempted capital murder for shooting a Bluefield, Virginia, police officer during a traffic stop in February.

Officers returned fire and the car was found abandoned hours later in West Virginia. The Associated Press reports the wounded officer is recovering.

A $25,000 reward had been offered for information leading to the arrest of Gary prior to Wednesday’s incident.
