Police: 2-year-old Charlottesville boy and mother no longer missing

UPDATE: Charlottesville police say the family has made contact with Casey Carter and her son Daniel. They’re no longer considered missing. Additional details haven’t been released at this time. 


CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WRIC) — Virginia State Police has issued an endangered missing child alert for a 2-year-old boy out of Charlottesville. 

Daniel Burnett is believed to have been taken by his mother, Casey Carter, who may have access to a red 1998 Saturn sedan with plates VFW1088.

Burnett is described as 2-foot-8, 35 pounds, with blue eyes and blond hair. He was wearing a blue sweatshirt with ‘Osh Kosh’ on the front and gray cargo pants. 

Carter is described as 5-foot-6, 120-pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the Charlottesville Police Department at 434-970-3280.
