Plane with more than 100 passengers goes off runway, into Jacksonville river

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WFLA) – An airplane has gone off a runway and into the St. Johns River near NAS Jacksonville.

According to First Coast News, the FAA says the plane was a Department of Defense contracted flight, not a commercial flight.

The plane is a 737 passenger plane. A source told First Coast News that about 150 people were on board.

Jacksonville mayor Lenny Curry confirmed all people on board are alive and accounted for.

Jacksonville Fire Rescue transported 21 adults to various area hospitals. All were listed in good conditions.

The flight originated from GITMO, with Naval Air Station Jax as its destination, according to First Coast News.
