NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A JetBlue flight had to divert to Norfolk International Airport (ORF) Monday morning after a passenger became ill.

According to Steve Sterling with the airport, the plane was headed to the Dominican Republic from Newark, New Jersey when it had to make a medical emergency landing in Norfolk.

The plane touched down just after 8 a.m. and the ill passenger was taken to a local hospital. Sterling said two other people on the plane also reported feeling ill once on the ground and were also taken to the hospital.

He said they do not believe the illnesses are connected, but JetBlue decided to replace the diverted plane with another one before departing to its original destination. JetBlue is not an airline at ORF.

There is no information at this time on what caused the passengers to become ill.
