CHILHOWIE, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia State Police have announced funeral arragements for fallen Trooper Lucas Dowell.
Dowell died Monday night after he was shot during a drug raid in Cumberland County.
Dowell, a member of the Virginia State Police Tactical Team, was helping the Piedmont Regional Drug and Gang Task Force with a search warrant near Farmville, Virginia.
A suspect inside the home was shot and killed, state police said.
Visitation has been scheduled for Friday, Feb. 8 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Chilhowie Christian Church located in Chilhowie.
Dowell’s funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 9 starting at 11 a.m. also at Chilhowie Christian Church. His internment will follow the funeral at St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery on 538 St. James Road.
A reception for family, friends, and law enforcement will be held at Chilhowie Christian Church after Dowell’s funeral.
