HYATTSVILLE, Md. (NBC4/WAVY) — A Prince George’s County firefighter rescued a Golden Retriever dog from an icy culvert in Hyattsville, Md., on Friday afternoon.
Battalion Chief Bryan Spies said the dog was wet and frozen when he was taken from the water.
Firefighter Jesse McCullough, the one who rescued the dog, said “It was probably about a 30-degree pitch and it was just icy concrete so you just, you are not going to be able to climb out easily.”
He said firefighters took the dog to the fire station to warm him up and give him food and water, then called animal services.
Spies said there was no chip found on the dog, and it was not wearing a collar.
McCullough said he would possibly adopt the animal if the owner did not come forward.
