PINE GROVE, Pa. (NBC) — A Pennsylvania man who was trapped in dangerous floods waters decided to document his predicament on Facebook Live.

In the video, Zachary Reichert is sitting on the roof of his Jeep, trying to escape a flash flood in Pine Grove.

Reichert said he was on his way to work Monday, when without warning, the water started to rise. “It just happened out of nowhere! Next thing, my car was just shut off. And I’m like, ‘what do I do now?” he said.

Reichert immediately dialed 911, and began to record the water rushing by. “I can’t swim in the first place so I wasn’t jumping into those waters.”

Eventually, firefighters arrived and rescued Reichert — who sadly had to wave “goodbye” to his brand new Jeep.

“They’re volunteers, so to come out and do what they do, it’s very respectful,” Reichert said. “I’m a military man, so I respect that commitment and dedication to the community.”

His car might be totaled, but Reichert said he’s grateful his 19-month-old son wasn’t with him.
